This 6 Days Etosha and Sossusvlei safari offers the best of wildlife, landscapes, and the oldest desert in Africa. On the game drives, guests will see the wildlife of Etosha National Park which includes animals like elephants, hippos, giraffes, and lions. In Swakopmund, you will have 2 activities (quad biking & sandboarding). You will then continue to Sossusvlei to end the tour with a desert excursion which includes Deadvlei, Big Daddy, Sesriem, Dune 45, and Sossusvlei.

6 Days Etosha and Sossusvlei trip itinerary

Day 1: Windhoek to Etosha National Park

In the morning, be picked up at 09h00 and depart to the northern part of Namibia. Along the way, the guide will stop in Okahandja at the Craft Center. Continue the journey and make your second stop in Otjiwarongo where you can grab lunch at the shopping center before proceeding to Etosha National Park.
Included activities: Afternoon game drive.
Overnight: Etosha Safari Campsite.
Main Destination: Etosha National Park

Day 2: Etosha National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast and then go on a full-day game drive. At around 12h00 or 13h00, clients will have lunch inside the park and then continue with the game drive until 17h00.
Included activities: Full-day game drive.
Overnight: Etosha Safari Campsite.

Day 3: Etosha National Park to Swakopmund

Set along Namibia’s spectacularly scenic coast, the seaside town of Swakopmund is known for its wide-open avenues and colonial architecture, and is surrounded by otherworldly desert terrain. Founded in 1892 as the main harbor for German Southwest Africa, Swakopmund is often described as being more German than Germany.

Now a seaside resort town, Swakopmund is the capital of the Skeleton Coast tourism area and has plenty to keep visitors happy. The quirky mix of German and Namibian influences, adventure options, laidback atmosphere, and cool sea breeze make it a very popular Namibian destination. Visitors can look forward to many exciting activities.
Included activities: Visit a museum, quad biking, sand boarding and aquarium.
Optional activities: Boat cruise, air-balloon safari, the world’s oldest desert, sky diving and desert living museum tour.
Overnight: Hotel Pension à la Mer.

Day 4: Swakopmund to Sesriem

Today, you have breakfast and then drive toward Sossusvlei. You’ll venture deeper into the Namib Desert on this overland journey. Your destination is the dune fields that cover the western reaches of the desert. Long dusty roads and sparsely populated farmlands offer you an insight into the vastness of rural Namibia to explore the fascinating dunes.
Included activities: Sundowner at Elim Dune.
Overnight: Sesriem Oshana Campsite.
Main Destination: Sossusvlei (Sand Dunes)

Day 5: Sesriem

You will wake up at 05h30 to get ready and drive to Dune 45 where you will have breakfast. Enjoy the show of colors over the dunes at sunrise. After sunrise, continue with the Sossusvlei excursion which includes Deadvlei, Hiddenvlei, and Big Daddy. The tour guide will have regular stops to let you take pictures and have some exposure to the dunes. You will be back at around lunchtime and will then have some leisure time at the pool.
Included activities: Sundowner desert drive, Sossusvlei excursion.
Overnight: Sesriem Oshana Campsite.
Main Destination: Sossusvlei (Sand Dunes)

Day 6: Sesriem to Windhoek

You will get up at 08h00 for breakfast and will then pack up to head back to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia.

Entry Requirements for This Tour:

Voltage:
220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the government in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.

Currency:
Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.   Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country.  Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.

Clothing:
Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.

Baggage:
Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.

Water:
You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.

Health;
Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards: Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential.
You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

As a guideline and dependent on how happy you are, we would suggest the following: The General Hotel/Lodge/Camp Staff – Approximately U$ 10.00 per person per day Driver Guides – Approximately US$ 15.00 to US$ 20.00 per person per day

Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform.  Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages.  If in doubt, please check with your guide.
